Summer Is Almost Here!

Hi. I've been remiss in keeping my blog up to date. Between e-mails, website and Facebook, there is so much to maintain. I apologize.

I've been spending most of my weekends during the past several months working in my studio on new jewelry designs which you can see on my website. I love going to flea markets and looking for vintage jewelry pieces that I can use in my designs. It's like being on a treasure hunt and when you find something you like, it's exciting! The thrill of the hunt, I guess!

Summer is almost here and I'm looking forward to nice sunny weather so I can spend time outdoors riding my bicycle, running, taking walks and just enjoying outdoor time. Sometimes I will sit at the picnic table in our backyard and read a good book or make a jewelry piece. I get inspired by nature, watching birds and flowers. The colors of the flowers give me ideas on how to mix stone colors into my jewelry designs.

This is a new design made from a 1970's hair clip which is a recent flea market find! I simply bent the clip slightly to form into the shape of a wrist and added antique silver chain. The amethyst stone is soft and soothing. It's a one-of-a-kind piece, like many of my designs.
New items are added to my website often, so please check often so you don't miss anything. You can also contact me on Facebook if you have a special request.

Until next time, take care.

Happy 2010!

A new season, a new year. Happy New Year to all of my friends, family and loyal customers and welcome to my new customers!

Last year was a challenge for many. Many families are just barely hanging on. Praying to keep their job; their home; their sanity. But, I am hopeful that this year will bring happiness and peace.

I trust that all of you had a wonderful holiday season.

I love flowers. They always make me happy. So with that, I present my flower filigree necklace design, which is from my fall/winter collection.

You can view more of my recent designs on my website soon. But, in the meantime, please visit my etsy shop at dolliecs.etsy.com.

Thanks for your support!

Autumn Leaves Are Falling

Fall is here and the weather in Northern California is so beautiful. There's a slight chill in the air, but it is sunny and the sky and air is so clean and crisp.

We recently did a 2-week road trip to Mendocino, Big Sur and Palm Desert. Spent most of our time out doors, hiking, running, exploring, photographing and reading. It was a nice, relaxing trip and the weather was absolutely perfect in all places. It is certainly nice to be able to get away and enjoy the outdoors and each other's company, away from all other responsibilities.

Even though I'm not making jewelry during vacation-mode, I'm always hunting for new and vintage treasures. I found some unusual vintage pieces that I am now incorporating into various necklace and bracelet designs. So, please check my website (www.dolliecs.com) on November 15th for the unvailing of some truly unique designs. Although it's hard to believe, the holiday season is just around the corner, so now's the time to start gift shopping! My items are beautifully gift-wrapped and ready for presentation or placement under your holiday tree!

Thanks for reading, and I look forwarding to posting another update soon.

Treasure Hunt

This past weekend was spent with me, myself and I! I had a wonderful time on Saturday at the Martinez peddlers fair. Many local artists and antique dealers selling their wears, furniture, jewelry, etc. I found some wonderful vintage jewelry pendants and such that I will create into unique jewelry designs. You will see them soon on my website. www.dolliecs.com.

I spent Sunday at the Alameda Antique/Estate flea market at the old Navy base down by the SF bay. This is a primo event the first Sunday of each month, and well worth spending an entire day. I arrived at 8:45 a.m. and walked for 7 hours up and down each row, looking at so many wonderful and unusual things that the vendors had for sale.

I finally lifted my head up at 3:30 and realized that vendors were starting to pack up and that it was time for me to make one last fly by to my favorite vendors to make any last-minute purchases. I scored some wonderful pieces that will be incorporated into one of a kind jewelry designs, which will also appear on my website soon.

A wonderful weekend for me. Nice weather, met great people and artists, and got in some walking and warm sun too! Plus, I enjoyed the time by myself, not having anyone saying "are you ready to go yet?", or "I'm bored", etc. Yippee!

July 4th Weekend

Happy 4th! Tim and I had a wonderful July 4th weekend. We went to North Lake Tahoe (Northstar) for the weekend. Tim played golf with friends and I got plenty of outdoor exercise and visited various craft fairs in town; went on several hikes; walked many miles; and met with several boutiques to discuss my jewelry line. I returned to the Bay Area relaxed and refreshed and sketched many new designs that I will begin creating and will add to my website. I'll keep you posted! Here's a new pair of earrings I made the day we got home from Tahoe. The colors remind me of the clear blue/green waters of Lake Tahoe!
